# sk174148 - Upgrade of a Security Management Server fails because of insufficient heap memory

## Symptoms

- * Upgrade of a Security Management Server fails because the Security Management Server stops working.

* Output of the "`ls -l /var/log/dump/usermode/CPM*`" command shows a core dump archive that was created during the time of the upgrade.

* The *javacore.XXX.txt* file from the CPM core dump archive contains a Dump Event about memory.

  For example:

  ```
  
  1TISIGINFO     Dump Event "systhrow" (00040000) Detail "java/lang/OutOfMemoryError" "Java heap space" received
  ```

## Cause

The upgrade failed because of insufficient heap memory in the Security Management Server.
