# sk173973 - when failing over between remote tunnels (with a MEP between them) traffic stops

## Symptoms

- * Multiple Entry Point VPN is configured between two remote peers (for redundancy).
* When the primary VPN tunnel fails, the backup tunnel comes up but traffic stops for a period of time.
* For TCP connections, if the host opens a new connection, it immediately works.
* For UDP connections, the host can only open a new connection after a connection timeout.

## Cause

This is an expected behavior. Since Multiple Entry Point VPN is not a clustering solution, there is no synchronization and therefore downtime is expected.
