# sk173946 - SecuRemote issues with Access Roles

## Symptoms

- * When the user connects with SecuRemote:  
  * Login event is seen in SmartEvent.
  * No relevant events are shown for Identity Awareness blade.
  * PDPD on the relevant Security Gateway does not contain user information.
  * A rule using Access Roles is not considered.
* When the user connects with the Endpoint Security Client:  
  * Login event is seen.
  * Identity Awareness blade login event is seen.
  * User information can be found in PDPD.
  * Rules with Access Roles are considered.

## Cause

Identity Awareness and Access Roles are not supported for Secure Remote clients that do not have the Office Mode feature (for example, SecuRemote).

## Solution

We suggest these two possible solutions:  

* Use legacy user objects instead of Access Roles.
* Use a different type of VPN client that uses Office Mode, such as Endpoint Security VPN / Check Point Mobile VPN.
