| Technical Level | General |
| Products | Security Gateway, SmartConsole |
| Versions | R81.10 (EOS), R81 (EOS), R81.10 (EOS), R81 (EOS) |

## Symptoms

- After an upgrade to R81 or to R81.10 , this error message appears in the **Validation** pane in SmartConsole: "*Incorrect fields in SAML service* ".

## Cause

This is a cosmetic error that occurs after a version upgrade when:

1. In the pre-upgrade environment (Check Point version R80.40 or R81), a Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator is installed that includes support for SAML authentication method for Remote Access VPN. These Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator takes include support for SAML authentication method for Remote Access VPN:
   * [R80.40 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk165456) Take 114 and higher.
   * [R81 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk170114) Take 42 and higher
2. The post-upgrade environment is a clean installation of Check Point version R81 or R81.10. Clean installations of R81 or R81.10 do **not** include SAML support.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [Check Point R81.20 (Titan)](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk170416)

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the most recent version
([upgrade Security Gateway](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=overview&product=435) / [upgrade Security Management Server](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=overview&product=184) / [upgrade Multi-Domain Security Management](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=overview&product=166)).

If you choose not to upgrade, to remove the validation errors, follow this procedure:

1. In SmartConsole, open the Identity Provider object that causes the validation error (**Object Explorer** \> **Home** \> **Users/Identities** \> **Identity Provider**).
2. In the text field below the **Object Name**, enter a comment. If there is already a comment, edit it.
3. Click **OK** .
   The issue is resolved. You do **not**need to Install Policy.
4. (Optional) Delete the comment or remove the edit and click **OK** .
   The comment is deleted.
