## Symptoms

- Firewall rules with IoT assests are not enforced on Quantum Spark Appliances.

## Cause

![](https://sc1.checkpoint.com/sc/SolutionsStatics/sk173495/SMB IoT202201312154451.jpg)

The roles of the IoT assets \[tags\] defined in the IoT Discovery Service are not copied from the Security Management Server to the Security Gateway. As a result, the Security Gateway does not enforce the security policies defined for these assets.

This only occurs when the Quantum Spark Security Gateways are managed by the Security Management Server.

## Solution

Workaround:

Create a dummy Quantum Security Gateway:

1. Create an object for a Quantum Security Gateway and select the same version as the Security Management Server.

2. Enter an IP address, select **Skip and initialize SIC later** , and click **Finish**.

**Note**- This is a dummy object and does not reference an actual appliance.
3. From the list of objects, select the **IoT Discovery Service** , select the gateway listed in the **Gateways** tab and click **OK**.

4. Install the policy on the Quantum Security Gateway.

5. Ignore the error that the policy installation fails.

6. Push the policy on the Quantum Spark Security Gateway.
