# sk172866 - "Check Point Security Management Server is during initialization" message when running the "cpm_status.sh" script

## Symptoms

- * "`Check Point Security Management Server is during initialization`" When running the `$MDS_FWDIR/scripts/cpm_status.sh` script.

* The *$FWDIR/log/cpm.elg* file contains these error messages:


  `Caused by: CpmGeneralException{base='com.checkpoint.management.is.exceptions.CpmGeneralException: Couldn't connect to database', errorCode='CP_ERR_DATABASE_CONNECTION', errorFamily='null', messageForUser='null', message='Couldn't connect to database'}
  `  

  `
  Caused by: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: Connection refused. Check that the hostname and port are correct and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections
  `  

  `
  Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused`
* Output of the "`$MDS_FWDIR/scripts/postgres_start.sh`" command shows:

  `Finished to run successfully postgres_configure.sh`  
  `
  bash: cannot redirect standard input from /dev/null: Permission denied`
* Output of the "`pg_ctl start`" command shows:

  `pg_ctl: the PID file "/opt/CPshrd-<Version>/database/postgresql/data/postmaster.pid" is empty`

## Cause

Insufficient permissions are assigned to the `/dev/null` device.
