# sk172304 - SMT (HyperThreading) is enabled after an upgrade to R80.40 or higher

## Symptoms

- SMT (HyperThreading) is enabled after an upgrade to R80.40 or higher.

## Cause

Starting from Linux Kernel version 3.10 (R80.40 and higher), SMT (HyperThreading) is enabled by default in BIOS and users cannot disable it from the '`cpconfig`' menu.

## Solution

To disable SMT (HyperThreading), use one of these options:

* [Contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to disable SMT in BIOS.
* For R80.40 - Install the [R80.40 Jumbo HotFix Accumulator](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk165456) Take 150 or higher (see PRJ-25307) to get the "**Configure Hyper-Threading** " option in the "`cpconfig`" menu.
