## Symptoms

- When the user runs a SmartEvent report, it does not align with the results in "Logs View."

<br />

## Cause

Security Gateway logs consist of connection logs and session logs:

* A connection log is a single log that represents a single communication between two peers.
* A session log represents a logical session that is accumulated from several connection logs.

SmartEvent's views and reports summarize Security Gateway data based on session logs only. There is minimal benefit to the user in showing thousands of connection logs in a view/report; in fact, the large number of logs could cause a heavy resource load. Therefore, SmartEvent indexes and shows session logs only.
