# sk171454 - Expired Admin password causes scheduled backups to fail

## Symptoms

- * Scheduled backup on Security gateway or Security Management server fails.
* "show backup status" command does not show the scheduled backup status.

## Cause

The Admin password has expired. Even though other account have it access as the admin, and their password has not expired. The admin account password been expired causes scheduled backup to fail on both Security gateway and Security Management server.

## Solution

Check if admin account password is valid or has expired by running this command in Expert mode:  

*\[Expert@Host\]# chage -l \<username\>*   

Example: *\[Expert@Host\]# chage -l admin*   

This command will tell if admin account is expired.   

If the admin account is expired, change the admin account password.
