# sk169815 - Monitoring blade cannot be enabled on a standalone device

## Symptoms

- * ?onitoring blade is enabled on the standalone device and Security policy is successfully installed during the evaluation period.  

* After attaching the product license and contract, the following error appears in SmartConsole during policy verification:  

  `
  "No sufficient licenses installed for Security Gateways with Monitoring Blade.`  
  `
  If you do not intend to use SmartView Monitor, please uncheck this product from your Security Gateway(s)"`

## Cause

The Monitor blade (CPSB-MNTR) is a Management server blade. It requires a dedicated Management server that can have the CPSB-MNTR added to it. It cannot be added to a standalone gateway.  
When the Monitoring blade worked previously, it turned on plug and play eval license for the blade, the system does not have a way to determine if possible to add the blade to the gateway, so it just turns it on to allow it to be tried.

## Solution

Change the standalone deployment to distributed. The current management licenses Check Point sells come with all Management blades, including CPSB-MNTR.
