## Symptoms

- * Security Gateways are in the "Lost" State in a Maestro Dual-Site environment.

* The output of the "`asg monitor`" command shows that all of the Security Gateways on one of the Sites are in the "Lost" state.

* **Notes** :
  * Applying a new configuration to the Security Group is possible, and the procedure succeeds without errors.
  * There is basic connectivity between the Maestro Orchestrators on the two sites. (It is possible to ping each site's Orchestrator from the Orchestrator on the other site.)

## Cause

**Environment:**

* Maestro Dual-site configuration.
* The Maestro Site Orchestrators are connected through 3rd party Layer-2 devices between the two sites.
* The 3rd party Layer-2 devices have been configured to pass the base VLANs used for inter-site communication (by default, VLAN 3600, VLAN 3601, VLAN 3951, and VLAN 3952).

The adjacent 3rd-party Layer-2 devices connected to the Orchestrators for inter-site connectivity were not configured (or were misconfigured) with Q-in-Q tunneling for the required VLANs necessary for correct inter-site communication.
