# sk168933 - In-place Upgrade of a Management Server from R80.10 to R80.40 fails

## Symptoms

- * In-place Upgrade of a Management Server from R80.10 to R80.40 failss

* The *$FWDIR/log/cpm.elg* and *$FWDIR/log/postgres.elg* files contain this line:

  ` "Consider using an AFTER trigger instead of a BEFORE trigger to propagate changes to other rows".`

## Cause

In R80.40, the PostgreSQL was upgraded to a new version, and a change in its behavior causes a problem in the upgrade process.

## Solution

**This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:**

* [Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R80.40](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk165456) starting from Take 83

**Perform an Advanced Upgrade or Upgrade with Migration:**

1. Export the management database from the R80.10 Management Server with the R80.40 Upgrade Tools
2. Perform the Clean Install of the R80.40 image
3. Install the R80.40 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator (Take 83 or higher)
4. Import the management database
