# sk168653 - Central Deployment Tool (CDT) fails to check md5sum of the target package with "Error code 3"

## Symptoms

- The Central Deployment Tool (CDT) md5sum check of the target package fails during a CDT upgrade with `"Error code 3 - Failed to calculate MD5 sum for a file."`, for example

## Cause

The issue occurs when the target image or hotfix files are copied to a new location in the file system of the Security Management server.  

CDT creates split files that contain records of the md5sum of the package when the package was originally split. If the files have changed locations, then the split file will have the old location file path causing it to fail.
