# sk168593 - Endpoint Security Client registration fails due to long "Computer Name"

## Symptoms

- Endpoint Security Client registration fails due to long "Computer Name".

## Cause

When the ***Computer Name** (* aka ***Host Name**)* is longer than 15 characters and Kerberos Authentication is enabled, the Endpoint Security Client cannot register to the Endpoint Security Server.  

This happens because the Kerberos Client uses the NetBIOS name (cut to 15 chars by Windows), while the server expects a complete DNS name when authenticating the client.

## Solution

Truncate the client's "***Computer Name"*** property to **15 characters** or less.
