## Symptoms

- The user can view and open log files from the legacy SmartView Tracker. However, when the user tries to view log files from SmartConsole, the "`no items found`" error message appears.

<br />

## Cause

**The log server has been upgraded from a different version.**

After the Security Management Server (Log Server) is upgraded, the old logs remain stored in the old version's `CPsuite-RXX` directory (e.g., `CPSuite-R77`). The new logs are stored in and read from the new version's `CPsuite-RXX` directory (e.g., `CPSuite-R80)`.

So that it is possible to view the older version's log files from SmartConsole, symbolic links get created in the new version directory, linking the old log files stored in the old directory.

In some cases, the old log files may get deleted while the symbolic link to that file has not been removed from the new version's logging directory.
