# sk167614 - "Failed to delete object - object 'XXXXX' is used by a policy or by other objects" when deleting an object via SmartConsole or GuiDBedit

## Symptoms

- The user cannot delete an object via SmartConsole or GuiDBedit.

SmartConsole error: 
"Failed to delete object - object 'XXXXX' is used by a policy or by other objects".

GUiDBedit error: 
"Could not delete object. Object "xxxx" could not be deleted because it is referenced by other objects"
```

## Cause

The object is related to its legacy object, which is the same object with the extension "@Any".  

For example:   

The object "test" has a legacy object of "test@Any".

## Solution

1. Delete the legacy object first (through SmartConsole). Refer to our example, where the object is "test@Any".   

2. Delete the object. Refer to our example, where the object is "test".
