Introduction {#Introduction}
----------------------------

This article provides important information for the Quantum Spark LTE appliances 1570 / 1590 / 1570R.

For important information about 5G, refer to [sk180545 - Quantum Spark Cellular Appliances 1595 / 1595R - Important Procedures](https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk180545).

The Quantum Spark LTE appliances support these features:

* Embedded modem that supports the latest advanced 4G/LTE, with fallback to 3G HSPA+ networks in North America, Europe, and Asia.
* Worldwide LTE coverage with just two product variants: one for North America and EMEA, and one for Asia-Pacific.
* Dual SIM functionality is supported to enable automatic fail over between SIMs.
  * Activation is done manually in Gaia Clish / WebUI. The user selects the preferred SIM. The modem supports automatic failover between SIMs.
  * If the cellular connection user Interface shows "Detecting SIM" for a long time, verify that the SIM Card(s) are inserted correctly.  
    If the issue persists, run this command in the Expert mode: `sw set usb usb mode en`
* 4G/LTE supports CAT6 while 3G HSPA+ and UMTS (no 2G support)
* Peak download rate is 300Mbps and uplink of 50Mbps.
* Two external antennas (RP-SMA type, Main and Diversity) to allow the best RF signal and coverage
* 1570/1590 is certified with:
  * PTCRB
  * GCF
  * AT\&T
  * Verizon
  * T-Mobile/Sprint certification: on-going.
* 1570R certification:
  * PTCRB and GCF - certified.
  * Verizon and AT\&T - certified
  * T-Mobile/Sprint - planned.

Carriers Support {#Carriers Support}
------------------------------------

The LTE model 1590 uses a fully certified cellular modem of Sierra, covering WW by 2 modules.

As such, all granted carriers/operators are approved.

There are a few exceptions that require a special process, as described below.

Check Point will certify the modems based on the market demand.

* US Cellular

**APAC:**

LTE Modules {#LTE Modules}
--------------------------

15x0 LTE products use Sierra Wireless fully certified modules:

* EM7455 for USA and Europe
* EM7430 for APAC

LTE Antenna {#LTE Antenna}
--------------------------

* Dipole antenna, 3.2dbi gain
* Connector type RP-SMA
* Currently, 1570R supports GPS antenna with RP-SMA connection.  
  Support for this functionality in the software is planned.

How to configure APN user/password {#How to configure APN user/password}
------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Create an Internet connection (in the WebUI) and assign an APN to it.
2. Make sure to have the correct APN for your provider.  
   Example:

3. In the Expert mode, run this command:  
   `sw set net wan 1 username <USERNAME> pass <PASSWORD> pppauth auto`  
   **Important** - In the above syntax, enter the required credentials.  
   If you know which authentication method is being used by your cellular provider, change from '`auto`' to either '`pap`' or '`chap`'.

How to change the latency threshold {#How to change the latency threshold}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Go to **Device** -\> **Internet** -\> **Edit internet connection** -\> **Advanced Probing Setting**.
2. Edit the maximum latency allowed and failover ping %.

Troubleshooting {#Troubleshooting}
----------------------------------

1. **Stuck at "Detecting SIM"**

   Things to check:
   * Is SIM card inserted correctly?

     1. In Gaia Clish, run: `show cellular-modem-status`

     2. If the SIM status is "*Unknown* " or "*SIM Not Available*", open the SIM tray and make sure SIM cards are inserted correctly.

     3. Close the SIM tray gently.

   * Does SIM require PIN?

     Some SIM cards require a PIN number, so make sure PIN number was entered correctly.

     When running the Gaia Clish command "`show cellular-modem-status`", if the SIM status shows "*SIM PIN*", this means that either PIN was not entered or is incorrect.
   * Reset Modem

     If SIM cards are inserted and set up correctly, the modem may need to be reset.
     1. In expert mode, enter: `sw reset hard_usb`

     2. Allow the modem to reset. This could take up to 3 minutes.

2. **Stuck at "Establishing Internet"**

   Things to check
   * Cellular operator does not recognize the SIM card.

     If the SIM card was not activated for the cellular modem (cellular operators sometimes require SIM to match cellular modem IMEI), registration with that cellular provider fails.
     1. Run this command in Gaia Clish: `show cellular-modem-status`

     2. Look for these fields:

        * `operator-short-name`

        * `operator-full-name`

     3. If either field is empty, this probably means registration failed. Verify with your cellular provider that the SIM is activated.

   * Wrong or missing APN, user name or password

     If the cellular operator requires a specific APN, and possibly a username and password associated with this APN, make sure the user entered them for the SIM card being used:
     1. In the WebUI, go to the **Internet** page and click the connection name.

     2. On the **Cellular** tab, verify the correct APN and if needed, username/password.

   * Wrong firmware package

     Make sure the correct firmware package is selected for the SIM being used.

     The following cellular providers require their home SIM to use a specific firmware package (if the provider is not listed, use the GENERIC firmware package):
     * AT\&T

     * Rogers

     * Sprint

     * Verizon

     * Bell

     * Vodafone

     * Telus
