# sk167074 - The IPMI service fails to start

## Symptoms

- * Output of the Expert mode command "`service ipmi status`" shows:

  ```
  
  ipmi_msghandler module loaded.
  ipmi_si module loaded.
  ipmi_devintf module loaded.
  /dev/ipmi0 does not exist.
  ```

* Output of the Expert mode command "`service ipmi start`" shows:

  ```
  
  Starting ipmi drivers:                                     [FAILED]
  ```

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:
