# sk166900 - Endpoint Security VPN's re-authentication time setting does not take effect

## Symptoms

- * Changing the "Re-authenticate user every" for Remote Access Global Properties does not take effect right away.
* Connecting to a site for the first time will always set the timeout of 8 hours.

## Cause

The authentication timeout takes effect before the new topology is pulled. This will cause the client to use the re-authentication timeout based on the last connection, or the default if it is the first time connecting (8 hours) instead of the current connection.
