# sk166294 - Unable to start syslog process

## Symptoms

- * Syslog process is not presented in the output of `netstat -nap | grep 514` command although "Accept Syslog messages" checkbox in SmartConsole is selected.
* Unable to start syslog process even after reboot.
* The `syslog.elg` file shows "Failed to get dictionary" error after running syslog process with the below debug:  
  `
  export TDERROR_ALL_ALL=5`  
  `
  syslog 514 all &`

## Cause

The *dict.ini* file contains a Dictionaries name, but the name is with underscore and not with space
