# sk166152 - Anti-Virus & Anti-Bot update fails with "Anti-Virus & Anti-Bot Update failed. empty file" error

## Symptoms

- * Anti-Virus \& Anti-Bot update fails. The device status shows the following error: `"Anti-Virus & Anti-Bot Update failed. empty file`".
* The user has checked connectivity and access to Check Point's update servers as per [sk98665](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk98665), and both are successful.
* The user has checked the antimalware update status; it also shows "Update failed. empty file":

  ```

## Cause

The Gateway needs to go through an upper Gateway to access the Internet. In the upper Gateway, there is no URL filtering rule to allow it to access the Internet, although it has a firewall rule to accept its Internet access.
