## Symptoms

- User fails to find DNS over HTTPS (DoH) application in SmartConsole.

## Cause

DNS over HTTPS (DoH) is a protocol enabling sending DNS queries and responses over HTTPS protocol.

The DNS over HTTPS (DoH) application is supported only for R80.40 Gateways, and as such should be visible only in R80.40 Security Management, but due to a problem with the Security Management Application Control update, it is not available.
Scenario:

1. The customer wants to use the DoH app. He was told it is supported by Check Point, and is documented in the online AppWiki.
2. He goes to SmartConsole and searches for it, but the results return empty - meaning it is not there.
3. He might think that he simply does not have the updated application package on his management, but when he checks he sees that there is no update available. So he actually does have the most updated application package.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

* [Check Point R81](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk166715)

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the most recent version
([upgrade Security Gateway](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=overview&product=435) / [upgrade Security Management Server](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=overview&product=184) / [upgrade Multi-Domain Security Management](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=overview&product=166)).

For **R80.40** version, only these manual steps are available:

1. Download this script file to your computer:
   [fixAppiUpdateVer](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?action=portlets.DCFileAction&eventSubmit_doGetdcdetails=&fileid=104029 "fixAppiUpdateVer")
2. Transfer this script file to the Security Management Server (to some directory)
3. Connect to the command line (over SSH or through the console) to the Security Management server
4. Log in to the Expert mode
5. Go to the directory with the script:
   *cd \<Path to Directory\>*
6. Convert the script file from DOS to UNIX:
   *dos2unix fixAppiUpdateVer.sh*
7. Assign the 'execute' permission to the script:
   *chmod -v u+x fixAppiUpdateVer.sh*
8. Run the script:
   *./fixAppiUpdateVer.sh*
9. During the execution, the script prompts you for administrator username and password
   Note: The script requires read/write permissions to the management database. If ran on a Multi-Domain Server, it requires such permissions on all Domains including the Global Domain.
10. In some occasions, after performing the above steps, updates to the Application Control package appear as successful, but you still see there is an available update on the "Updates" page.
    To resolve, run these commands:
    * On a Security Management Server:
      *cpstop \&\& cpstart*
    * On a Multi-Domain Server:
      *mdsstop \&\& mdsstart*

The script makes two modifications:

1. Changes the path of the downloaded Application Control package to the correct one.
2. Resets the current Application Control Package version number to deal with a version comparison code limitation.
