# sk165721 - Swap error while using Vi editor

## Symptoms

- When using Vi editor, the following message appears:

Found a swap file by the name ".FILE.swp"
          owned by: USERNAME   dated: Wed Mar 11 12:01:49 2020
         file name: /path_to_file/.FILE.swp
          modified: YES
         user name: admin   host name: USERNAME
        process ID: PID
While opening file ".FILE.swp"
             dated: DATE_OF_MODIFICATION

(1) Another program may be editing the same file.
    If this is the case, be careful not to end up with two
    different instances of the same file when making changes.
    Quit, or continue with caution.

(2) An edit session for this file crashed.
    If this is the case, use ":recover" or "vim -r .FILE.swp"
    to recover the changes (see ":help recovery").
    If you did this already, delete the swap file ".FILE.swp"
    to avoid this message.

## Cause

A swap file is created when another user is currently editing a file on the file system's view Vi.  

It is also sometimes seen during a Sync between Management HA.
