# sk165332 - "Certificate authority does not recognize the entity. Either the entity has been revoked or it does not exist" error while establishing SIC on a new gateway

## Symptoms

- * After initializing SIC on a new gateway, the "`Certificate authority does not recognize the entity. Either the entity has been revoked or it does not exist`" error is on the SmartConsole:

* Re-establishing SIC even with a new SIC key does not help.

## Cause

The Security gateway is selected as a Cluster from the First Time Wizard, but when adding it on the SmartConsole it was added as a single gateway or vice versa.

## Solution

Follow the below steps to resolve the issue:

1. On the Security gateway, run *cpconfig* and disable the cluster membership. This will require a reboot.
2. Reset SIC on gateway according to [sk65764](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk65764).
3. In the SmartConsole, create a new single Security gateway and use the new SIC key.

**Note:**If the situation is reverse, enable cluster membership on gateway and create a cluster object on the SmartConsole.
