# sk164213 - Log and Index storage maintenance does not work according to configurations

## Symptoms

- * Log and Index storage storage maintenance does not remove log and indexes according to configurations on the Log Server object \> Logs \> Storage.
* The `fwd.elg` file shows that it tries to delete older logs, but failed to access a certain path - a directory that should contain all the deletion candidates.

## Cause

The*/var/log* partition is not cleared from Old logs and indexes. Log are not being removed since the *cl_del* directory is a link to a leftover directory from R77.X:

Example:

We checked this path:   
*\[Expert@Host:0\]# ls /opt/CPsuite-R80.20/fw1/log/cl_del/*   
*ls: cannot access /opt/CPsuite-R80.20/fw1/log/cl_del/: No such file or directory*

This directory is a link to a leftover from R77.x:

*wxrwxrwx 1 root 39 Nov 7 2018 cl_del -\> /var/log/opt/CPsuite-R77/fw1/log/cl_del*   
*\[Expert@Host:0\]# ls /var/log/opt/CPsuite-R77/fw1/log/cl_del*   
*ls: cannot access /var/log/opt/CPsuite-R77/fw1/log/cl_del: No such file or directory*
