## Symptoms

- * SATA host cannot detect new inserted HDDs.

* Errors in dmesg (during boot time and when the error first occurs):

  ```
  kernel: ata3: reset failed, giving up
  important : ata port number is dependent on appliance .
  ```

* Possible errors in dmesg (during boot time or when the error first occurs):

  ```
  kernel: ata3: softreset failed (device not ready)
  kernel: ata3: hard resetting link
  kernel: ata3: port is slow to respond, please be patient
  important : ata port number is dependent on appliance .
  ```

* The `raid_diagnostic` command shows "`State:DEGRADED " , and one of the disks shows "State:MISSING`"

* Inserting a new replacement disk does not trigger ANY message to be shown in dmesg, and `fdisk -l` does not show the new inserted disk (the system is unable to detect it).
  `raid_diagnostic` does not show that the new disk is inserted and it will continue being shown as "`State:MISSING` "
