## Symptoms

- * "`The object name must not contain whitespace characters at the beginning or the end`" error in the SmartConsole "Validations" panel. Below the message, there is a link "`Go to rule at layer XXX`".

  Example:

* Every time you open smartconsole will get the pops up below: "The Validation Pane shows 2 errors"

## Cause

A rule's name or comment contains one of these:

* A space character in the beginning or in the end.
* A new line character.
