## Symptoms

- * ON the ClusterXL Standby member CPview --\> Advanced --\> Memory --\> SMEM Failures, the following is displayed:

  `"Failed Memory Requests on Caller fwldbcast_clean_records"`

* Output of 'fw ctl pstat' command shows that in the 'Kernel memory (kmem) statistics' section, the value of the 'failed alloc' counter constantly increases.

* Kernel debug ('fw ctl debug -m fw + memory' ; 'fw ctl debug -m kiss + memory' ; 'fw ctl debug -m kissflow + memory') shows:

  `
  Warning: fw_kmalloc_impl: unable to allocate 159612 bytes for fwldbcast_clean_records, context general_context;`
  `
  fw_kmalloc_impl: new_bc_rec: allocated 1428 bytes at ffffc2004766e030 using HMEM in context general_context;`
  `
  fw_salloc: fwldbcast_clean_records: failed to allocate 159628 bytes;
  `

## Cause

The following parameter "fwlddist_buf_size" was added to the fwkern.conf file with higher value that is too large for the ClusterXL environment, and as a result the Kernel memory buffer is getting full, resulting in failed allocations.
