# sk151632 - No default route on a Security Gateway when the interface receives an IP address from the DHCP server

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk151632 |
| Date Created | 2019-04-15 |
| Last Modified | 2023-04-11 |
| Technical Level | Advanced |
| Products | Security Gateway, Security Management Server |
| Versions | R81.20, R81.10 (EOS), R81.20, R81 (EOS), R81.10 (EOS), R81 (EOS) |
| OS | Gaia |

## Symptoms

- No default route is added when the interface is set to receive an IP from the DHCP server, even when the DHCP server sends it.
**Notes** :

* The Security Gateway is a DAIP Gateway.
* An interface is enabled and configured to Obtain IP address automatically.
* The interface receives the IP address (from a DHCP server), but not the default route (default Gateway) address.

## Cause

Kernel Routes are not activated by default. Gaia OS can prevent routes entering from the kernel side (as opposed to the OS side) from being written to the routing table (kernel).
