# sk151153 - "cpas_newconn_ex : called upon something other than tcp SYN. Aborting" error in /var/log/messages

## Symptoms

- "cpas_newconn_ex : called upon something other than tcp SYN. Aborting" errors appear in /var/log/messages. There is no noticeable impact.

## Cause

In **Smart Dashboard** \> **Global Properties** \> **Stateful Inspection**, the "Drop out of state TCP" option checkbox is unchecked. The security blade is trying to start inspection in the middle of a connection, which is not supported.

Check the "Drop out of state TCP" checkbox.
