## Symptoms

- * Client package fails to install from local, UNC, or URL path, and instead downloads package from Endpoint Management Server when ***"Enable Deployment from Server when no MSI was found in local paths or URLs"*** option is disabled.

* *cpda.log* shows:
  `INFO - ExplicitLocations: No explicit locations are set. Downloading from EPSServer `

## Cause

The software deployment local, UNC, or URL path is defined as an ***Upgrade Package Location*** object, targeting the folder location, instead of as a ***Package Location*** object targeting the *EPS.msi*.

The client does not identify the folder specified by ***Upgrade Package Location*** as a target of the *EPS.msi* file and returns:

` "No explicit locations are set."`

## Solution

Configure the location of the *EPS.msi* package for software deployment from local, UNC, or URL under ***Client Settings** \> **Enable deployments from local paths or URLs** \> **Allow to install software deployment packages from local path or URLs** to **Package Location***.

The *EPS.msi* file is defined as the target in the path entered in the ***Package Location*** .

**Note** : Depending on server version and settings, Client Settings policy may be applied to Users or Computers.

EPMaaS environments and R81 On-Premise environments allow assigning it to Computers, earlier environments allow assigning it to Users.
In this case need to ensure that proper user is logged on on the machine, or to configure the same changes in Default Client Settings policy.
