## Symptoms

- * Some blades function only partially or not at all when a trial license expires on a locally managed SMB appliance and there is no active license for the device in the User Center.
* Under **Home** -\> **Security Dashboard**, the blades are branded with a banner stating "No License".

## Cause

The license has expired.

## Solution

The appliance contacts the UC (User Center) to check the validity of the license or contract every 2 hours.

If there is no valid license installed on the appliance and nothing on the UC, functionality issues are expected within hours of the expiration.

**Note:** If the expired license is not the built-in trial license, there is a grace period of 90 days on most of the contract based blades.
