# sk146772 - VS goes down after configuring a new IPv4/IPv6 interface

## Symptoms

- * After configuring an IPv4/IPv6 interface, VS goes down right after topology is pushed to the VSX gateway.
* Following logs are seen in /var/log/messages:  
  `
  [DATE TIME] hostname routed[PID]: parse: routed1.conf:140 BGP remote peer address can''t be an address on the local machine (xx.xx.xx.xx).`  
  `
  [DATE TIME] hostname routed[PID]: parse_parse: 1 parse error`  
  `
  [DATE TIME] hostname routed[PID]: Exit routed[PID] version routed-04.27.2018-02:10:52`

## Cause

The new interface IP is configured as a BGP peer on the gateway,
