# sk146693 - "Could not send Threat Emulation images update command" error when updating Threat Emulation images

## Symptoms

- `"Could not send Threat Emulation images update command, validate SIC connectivity and install policy with Threat Emulation enabled for '[gateway name]' gateway" error when attempting to update Threat Emulation images from SmartConsole.`

## Cause

The possible reasons are:

* SIC is not established or broken between the Security gateway and Security Management server
* The Security gateway does not have a Threat Prevention policy installed
* There is license error that prevents the Security Management from installing policy or update commands to the Security gateway.
