# sk144694 - Anti-Virus update periodically fails with message "Update failed. Script failure"

## Symptoms

- * Following error is seen in SmartConsole:  
  "Anti-Virus Update failed. Script failure"

* Following error can is seen in the output of 'cpstat' command:  

  ```
  
  # cpstat antimalware -f update_status
  
  AB Update status: up-to-date
  AB Update description: Gateway is up to date. Database version: 1803251525. Package date: [DATE TIME]
  .
  AB Next update description: The next update will be run as scheduled.
  AB DB version: 1803251525
  AV Update status: failed
  AV Update description: Update failed. Script failure
  AV Next update description: The next try will be within one hour.
  AV DB version: 1803261235
  ```

## Cause

When both Anti-Virus and ThreatEmulation are enabled, each run its own "update.sh" script:

* /opt/KAV/update.sh
* /var/log/vendors/kav/update.sh

The Script in both directories writes the output to the same file:

"/tmp/update.pid".

This causes the script to fail.
