# sk142772 - NSX instance stops passing traffic

## Symptoms

- * NSX service instance stops passing traffic, but a console connection from the NSX portal still functions.
* NSX shows the instance as down or unresponsive.
* SmartConsole shows connectivity lost for the instances.
* dmesg \| grep "DVFilter connected" may result in no matches found.
* 'fw ctl zdebug + drop' status may show a large number of drops due to the SND being fully utilized with strange traffic:

* virtd_tool -fwk_filters status may show "Fail" and/or that there are no known filters.

## Cause

Dvfilter is not correctly loaded.

## Solution

Navigate to the instance in the NSX portal and reboot the device.

**Note**: An NSX instance should never be rebooted manually via the CLI.
