## Symptoms

- Topology information is missing from NSX cluster and policy installation will fail after performing the following steps:

* Upgrades a Security Management Server to an R80.x version
* Connects with the SmartConsole to the Security Management Server
* Opens an NSX cluster object's properties
* Opens the "Network Management" page

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included starting from:

* [Check Point R80.30](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=skXXX)

Check Point recommends to always upgrade to the most recent version ([](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=downloads&product=435)[Security Management Server](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=downloads&product=184) / [Multi-Domain Security Management Server](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=downloads&product=166) / [SmartConsole](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=downloads&product=191)).

On **R80.20** and **R80.10** versions, you must install a hotfix before you upgrade to a higher version.

[Contact Check Point Support](https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/contact-support/) to get a Hotfix for this issue.
A Support Engineer will make sure the Hotfix is compatible with your environment before providing the Hotfix.
For faster resolution and verification, collect [CPinfo](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk92739) file from the Management Server involved in the case.

**Procedure:**

1. Install the hotfix. Refer to [sk168597 - How to install a Hotfix](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk168597)

If you are running **R80.20.M2**, skip this step.
2. Connect to the command line on the Management Server.

3. Log in to the Expert mode.

4. On the Multi-Domain Management Server, go to the context of the relevant Domain Management Server:

*mdsenv \<Name or IP Address of Domain Management Server\>*
5. To apply the required change, run the applicable command in one of these ways:

   * Run a script to apply the change to all managed clusters:

     1. [Download the ZIP archive with the shell script to your computer](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?action=portlets.DCFileAction&eventSubmit_doGetdcdetails=&fileid=78623).

     2. Unpack the ZIP archive.

     3. Transfer the shell script to the Management Server to some directory.

     4. Go to the directory with the shell script.

        *cd /path/*
     5. Run the script:

        *sh batchRunInitInterfaces.sh*
   * Manually run this command to apply the change to all managed clusters in the same command, run:

     *mgmt_cli -d \<Name of Domain\> run-init-interfaces scope all*
   * Manually run this command to apply the change to one cluster at a time, run:

     *mgmt_cli -d \<Name of Domain\> run-init-interfaces scope specific name \<Name of Cluster Object\>*
6. Start the upgrade to a higher version.
