## Symptoms

- * Encrypted USB media cannot be accessed with Media Encryption Blade. Password prompt appears again after entering password, even if it was the correct one.
* Automatic access to encrypted media resolves the issue

## Cause

**Environment:** USB media was encrypted with E80.71 and later Endpoint Security client, and current client version is less than E80.71

* Encryption algorithm has been changed since E80.71 Endpoint Security Client version.
* Media that were encrypted with E80.71 and later Endpoint Security Client versions cannot be opened on pre-E80.71 Endpoint Security Client versions due to encryption algorithm difference.
* This limitation is described in [E80.71 Endpoint Securituy Client Release Notes](http://downloads.checkpoint.com/dc/download.htm?ID=56991), page 5:

**Media Encryption \& Port Protection**

CryptoCore 4.0 support - Improved encryption speed, and a new password protection scheme.
Note: Previous Media Encryption versions cannot authenticate with a password on media that is encrypted with the new version. However, Remote Help and Automatic Access do work. The new Media Encryption version opens old and new versions.
