# sk138312 - Policy installation fails after running IPSUpdateRevert tool

## Symptoms

- Under some circumstances, after the IPSUpdateRevert tool is used to revert the IPS Database to a Previous Database Revision, policy installation fails with the following error:

"/opt/CPmds-R77/customers//CPsuite-R77/fw1/conf/.pf", line xxx: ERROR: function or table  undefined
Compilation failed.
```

**Note** : "n" are digits.

## Cause

This behavior is by design.

The**IPSUpdateRevert** tool was designed to allow the IPS SQLite database to be reverted to the version prior to the last IPS update. The reversion affects only the IPS configuration. The scope of the IPSUpdateRevert tool is limited to the IPS SQLite database and does not revert the changes (new services and protocols) in the *objects_5_0.C file* that on some occasions may be created by the newer IPS version update and new protections activated in a new IPS profile .

If a user reverts only the IPS database with IPSUpdateRevert, then he/she must manually remove all protocols/services that were added by the newer IPS version update, if applicable.
