# sk138132 - This gateway's Main IP is not a member of the topology table. VPN link selection will not be functional using "main IP" method.

## Symptoms

- * Upon editing a gateway object and pressing "OK" the below message may occur:   
  ========================================================   
  This gateway's Main IP is not a member of the topology table.  
  VPN link selection will not be functional using "main IP" method."  
  ========================================================   
* SmartView Tracker shows the error message: "Encryption failure: No response from peer"
* Due to changes you made in the Topology table, VPN Link Selection configuration is no longer valid. Please go to the link Selection tab and configure it properly.

## Cause

This warning message will occur when the "Main IP" does not exist within the gateway topology and "Main IP" is selected within VPN Link Selection.
