# sk138012 - "No common community with peer object" error message when VPN tunnel interface fails to attach during policy installation

## Symptoms

- * VPN tunnel interface fails to attach during policy installation, with error:  
  "No common community with peer object"
* Debug of *vpnd* during policy installation indicates the following flow:  
  VIF_GaiaPolicyReload: Peer Name: (VPN_PEER_NAME)  
  GetEntryCommunityHashX: called before hash initialization, could be because this entity is not in a community  
  FindCommonCommunity: Did not find common community for VPN_PEER_NAME  
  VIF_GaiaPolicyReload: Peer 'VPN_PEER_NAME' does not have a common community with myself  
  CBinObjCommon::PackLogData: Start  
  CBinObjCommon::PackLogData: Field number:0, Data offset:5, Type:eFtCstring, Value:IKE  
  CBinObjCommon::PackLogData: Field number:1, Data offset:6, Type:eFtCstring, Value:VTI 'vpnt1' failed to attach: No common community with peer object

## Cause

VPN peers are configured in a VPN community, while Traditional Mode policy is used.

## Solution

Convert the policy package from Traditional Mode policy to Simplified Mode.
