# sk136473 - No traffic on bond interface with VLANs on 25G/40G/100G NIC

| Property | Value |
|----------|-------|
| Solution ID | sk136473 |
| Date Created | 2018-09-17 |
| Last Modified | 2019-02-19 |
| Technical Level | Advanced |
| Products | Security Gateway, Hardware |
| Versions | R82.10, R82, R81.20, Not Version-Specific |
| OS | Gaia |
| Platform | 15000, 3000, 5000 |

## Symptoms

- * Traffic stops on bond interface with configured VLANs if specific VLANs are configured (e.g. VLANs starting with "4" for example 405, 406, 407 or when adding VLANs with IDs larger than "1000").
* Traffic works on bond interfaces without any VLANs.
* Deleting the VLANs do not resolve the issue, it is necessary to delete the VLANs, save the configuration and reboot the device.
* "ifconfig" on the bond interface show increasing RX and TX packets, "ifconfig" on the VLAN interface show only increasing TX traffic.
* A ping to another device on one of the VLANs shows in a TCPDUMP ON THIS DEVICE that "echo request" arrives and "echo reply" is sent out on this device but on the Security Gateway a timeout is received.
* In a TCPDUMP on the affected device there are only outgoing ARP requests and (on the lowest/highest configured) VLAN outgoing CCP traffic but no incoming traffic. The only incoming traffic may be CDP packets from the switch.

## Cause

A software limitation in the firmware version "12.17.1026" of the 40G and "12.18.2006" of the 25G/100G Mellanox cards.

To see the current firmware version, login into Expert mode and execute "ethtool -i \<\<NIC\>\>", for example:

`[Expert@FW:0]# ethtool -i eth4-01`
`driver: mlx5_core`
`version: 3.0-2.0.1.18 (12 Jul 2016)`
` `**firmware-version: 12.17.1026 / 12.18.2006**
