# sk133993 - On an active-backup bond interface, the configured "primary" slave does not take effect following a reboot

## Symptoms

- * After reboot, output of "`cat /proc/net/bonding/bondX`" shows the wrong "Active" slave. For example:

* Both slaves are showing as up in the output of "cat /proc/net/bonding/bondX". For example:

* Issue occurs following a reboot or upon switch failure + recovery.

## Cause

When STP is enabled on the switch, switch ports do not immediately come up but enter a listening and learning phase waiting for BPDUs from neighboring switches before entering a forwarding state.
