# sk132854 - "Publish failed due to session validation errors" error message received when fail to make changes to cluster

## Symptoms

- * When trying to publish changes to a cluster, receive the error:  
  "Publish failed due to session validation errors"
* *cpm.elg* shows the following errors:  
  ERROR coresvc.internal.WorkSessionMgmtSvcImpl \[taskExecutor-16\]: publish is aborted due to validation incident:ValidationIncident{incidentType='OBJECT'{validationDisplayName=''{blade='adcddf69-a871-4cf6-922e-04e2a24447df'{validationName='LinkConstraint', severity=ERROR, message='Gateway does not comply to 'Participant Gateways' of Meshed community. In order to comply the gateway needs to be VPN installed and of type Host / Gateway / Cluster / Interoperable device.', validationContext=\[LinkValidationContext{linkObjId=ea41dba8-10b2-47e2-989d-a5cddcc6a88c}\]}  
  ERROR coresvc.internal.WorkSessionMgmtSvcImpl \[taskExecutor-16\]: Publish failed  
  internal Exception= com.checkpoint.management.coresvc.ValidationException: Gateway does not comply to 'Participant Gateways' of Meshed community. In order to comply the gateway needs to be VPN installed and of type Host / Gateway / Cluster / Interoperable device.
* When trying to edit certain VPN communities, receive error:  
  "Failed to save object  
  Server error is: Validation error in field 'Participant Gateways' of element # at object '' @ 'Communities'."

## Cause

A Gateway object that was a member of a VPN community was converted to a cluster member without being removed from the VPN community.

**VPN communities cannot contain cluster member objects.**
