# sk132212 - Access Role using Remote Access identity source only is not enforced

## Symptoms

- * Security Policy rules using Access Roles are not being enforced.
* Identity Awareness is enabled with Remote Access being the only Identity Source.
* The pdpd daemon, responsible for acquiring Access Role information, is not running on the Security Gateway.
* Enabling another Identity Source, such as AD Query or Identity Agent, allows Access Roles using Remote Access users to be enforced.

## Cause

Remote Access identity source requires the following to be configured in order to start the pdpd daemon:

1. IPSec VPN blade must be enabled on the Security Gateway.

2. Security Gateway must participate in the Remote Access community.

3. Visitor Mode must be enabled on the Security Gateway.
