## Symptoms

- * When starting an application that uses *.tmp* files, the user gets "Access denied" or other permission warnings, and the application does not start.
* While working with application that dynamically changes files, such as scanning applications, not all of the files can be displayed.
* When trying to save as a .pdf file from within an Office application, an error pops up,
  Saying that "The Document is currently being used by another process".

## Cause

**Violation issues** - Some application tries to access temporary files with 'Exclusive rights'. This means that no other process can work on this file during that time.

The Threat Emulation blade processes the files during that time, and that is why the user sees the permissions warnings.

## Solution

This problem was fixed. The fix is included in:

* **[Endpoint Security Client E80.87](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk135432&partition=General&product=Endpoint)**

Check Point recommends to always [upgrade to the most recent version](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk117536&partition=General&product=Endpoint).

For earlier versions, exclude the affected application from the Threat Emulation policy, as per [sk128512](https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doGoviewsolutiondetails=&solutionid=sk128512).
