# sk129112 - Upon VPN tunnel re-key timeout, tunnel does not come up

## Symptoms

- * Upon the VPN tunnel re-key timeout, the tunnel will not come up.
* VPN debug shows the following output:  
  FindCommonCommunity: Found common community (IPv4 addr=192.168.1.1) (Gateway_Object) for VPN_COMMUNITY_Object  
  shared_secret_sorthash: VPN_COMMUNITY_Object is a community  
  get_shared_secret: VPN_COMMUNITY_Object -\> 123456789ABC  
  fwisakmp_get_preshared: pre-shared secret nil or empty for host VPN_COMMUNITY_Object  
  MMProcess5: Could not get a proper secret for peer.

## Cause

The usage of "Pre-Shared Key" is configured in **both**Simplified (in the VPN community) and Traditional Mode VPN (on the gateway object).
