# sk128992 - Policy setting "Require that only an authorized preboot user is allowed to log into the operating system" not enforced if using unsupported sign-in options

## Symptoms

- If the policy setting "Require that only an authorized preboot user is allowed to log into the operating system" is enabled, it does not block unauthorized users from signing-in using credential providers other than password and Smart Card.

## Cause

The policy setting is only enforced if using the currently supported sign-in options, which are Microsoft's password and Smart Card options.

The setting is not enforced if using any other types of sign-in options, such as Picture password, PIN or 3rd party options.

**Note:** If using a sign-in option that is not supported, other features like user acquisition will not be enabled either.
