# sk126332 - "Disk /dev/sdX doesn't contain a valid partition table" error after adding new HDDs to Smart-1 3150 Server

## Symptoms

- * After adding new Hard Disk Drives to Smart-1 3150 by following the steps from 'Configuring RAID' in Smart-1 225/3050/3150 Administration Guide without re-configuring RAID, you see that the newly created Virtual Disks do not have a valid partition table when running the `fdisk -l` command:  

  `Disk /dev/sdX: 1979.1 GB, 1979120091136 bytes`  
  `
  255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 240614 cylinders`  
  `
  Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes`  

  `
  Disk /dev/sdh doesn't contain a valid partition table`  

* You can see and re-assign the newly added disk space through '`lvm_manager`' tool  

* The `raid_diagnostics` command may show that the total available disk space size is less than what is actually expected  

  `[Expert@Hostname:0]# raid_diagnostic`  
  `
  Raid status:`  
  `
  VolumeID:0 RaidLevel: RAID-6 NumberOfDisks:12 RaidSize:3684GB State:OPTIMAL Flags:NONE`  

  Raid Array state shows as '`OPTIMAL`'  

* If adding 6 new HDDs to the server and keeping the original Raid configuration, you still see only one Raid-6 array instead of two separate Raid-6 arrays as stated in the [Smart-1 225/3050/3150 RAID Administration Guide](http://downloads.checkpoint.com/dc/download.htm?ID=32479)
