# sk126253 - "/opt/CPsuite-R80/fw1/log/postgres.elg: permission denied" error on CPM start failure

## Symptoms

- * CPM process fails to start.
* When trying to force postgres to start ( by running `/opt/CPsuite-R80/fw1/scripts/postgres_start.sh` script), the following message is displayed:  

  `/opt/CPshrd-R80/database/postgresq1/bin/pg_ctl -w start -l /opt/CPsuite-R80/fw1/log/postgres.elg `  
  `
  waiting for server to start....sh: /opt/CPsuite-R80/fw1/log/postgres.elg: Permission denied .... stopped waiting `  
  `
  pg_ctl: could not start server `  
  `
  Examine the log output.`

## Cause

Permissions on *$MDS_FWDIR/log* directory were changed and did not allow the server to access the */opt/CPsuite-R80/fw1/log/postgres.elg* file. This prevented the server from starting *postgres* process which stopped the initialization of the server.
